Visit JazzBoston Tent at BeanTown Jazz Festival on Sept. 29

JazzBoston will be in the middle of the action during the free BeanTown Jazz Festival on Saturday, Sept. 29, from noon to 6 p.m. on Columbus Ave. between Mass. Ave. and Burke St. Look for the JazzBoston tent and its "Meet Boston's Artists" table where more than a dozen of the city's talented jazz musicians will be on hand throughout the day to meet fans and talk about their music. Among those set to appear are Yoron Israel, Tiger Okoshi, Arni Cheatham, Dominique Eade, Ray Santisi, Equie Castrillo, Charlie Kohlhase, Valerie Stephens and Patricia Zarate.

Also featured at the JazzBoston tent will be an interactive exhibit, "What Does Jazz Mean to You?," which will give festival-goers the opportunity to contribute their own words and thoughts on a panel that will become part of an ongoing virtual installation on the JazzBoston website. The exhibit is presented in collaboration with The Art Connection, which created the original installation for the Boston Center for the Arts last spring.

Of course, there will be plenty of live music all around the JazzBoston tent on Saturday. Among the musicians performing on three stages at the Berklee College of Music-produced outdoor festival are Mike Stern, Bobby Hutcherson, Greg Hopkins, Charles Tolliver and the City Music All-Stars. BeanTown's Friday night extravaganza at Symphony Hall features a Who's Who of jazz, including Herbie Hancock, Roy Haynes, Regina Carter, Branford Marsalis, Geri Allen, Joe Lovano and Toshiko Akiyoshi.
