Sunnyside Recording Artist, Guggenheim Fellow and acclaimed New York City flutist/composer Jamie Baum is making her long-awaited (her appearance there was ten years ago) appearance at Scullers Jazz Club with her Quintet on Saturday, March 7 marking a triumphant return to Boston and topping a pinnacle of achievement over a 30 year career. She and her Quintet will give local audiences a preview of her forthcoming eighth album as a leader, as yet untitled, featuring a fast growing talent on alto sax, Jaleel Shaw.
Jamie is prepping material for her forthcoming eighth album and bringing a new quintet to Scullers, anchored by one of her stalwart sidepeople, drummer Jeff Hirshfield. It promises to be a great band! Her quintet at Scullers will feature Jamie on flute, Julian Shore on piano, Jaleel Shaw on alto sax, Jeff Hirshfield on drums and now, Sam Minaie has just been added, on bass.
