Diane Esmond (1910-1981) was a French artist whose work evolved from the impressionist and post-impressionist traditions toward more abstract expression, inspired especially by tropical forest scenes. Her work from the 1930s was exhibited at the time in Paris but was seized by Nazi occupying forces in 1941. She escaped with her family to New York, returning to France in the mid-1950s. Her later work drew on trips to southern France, Italy, and the Caribbean. Learn more about her at dianeesmond.com. Proceeds from the sales will help the Community Church of Boston restore its façade.
