Led by Ebinho Cardoso, whose work has been recognized by the Brazilian magazine Cover Baixo as a significant shift for the instrument, the project reflects an innovative career awarded by Pixinguinha and Itaú Cultural, and supported by masters such as Arthur Maia and Arismar do Espírito Santo.
After a year-and-a-half hiatus for health reasons—a period of personal and artistic reflection—Ebinho returns to the stage to share a new way of thinking about the instrument. Accompanied by piano, synthesizers, and hybrid percussion, the trio explores a
sound where the Baixo Piccolo EC assumes an unprecedented polyphonic role.
Through OBLÍQUA, which focuses on the independence between attack and dampening, Ebinho navigates beyond the traditional roles of soloist or accompanist. The result is a sound where the bass sustains bass lines, harmonies, and melodies simultaneously and independently, achieving a level of autonomy that expands the instrument’s reach.
With a discography that includes collaborations with Hamilton de Holanda and Nando Michelin, and the upcoming solo album 'Cançõ es que fiz pra mim', the Modern Trio offers a unique musical experience. It is the result of a long journey of research—the sound of a musician who found a new horizon for the Brazilian bass.
