MIXING UP Roots-Reggae and Roots-Latin style is the musical prerogative of this sophisticated and soulful band that presents original compositions and creative re-workings of jazz, pop, reggae and Latin hits. You’ll hear songs by Duke Ellington, Marvin Gaye, Santana, Bob Marley, Hall and Oates, Bill Withers, Tito Puente, Oscar D’Leon, Buena Vista Social Club, Bob Marley, Jackie Mittoo, UB 40 and more. Many years ago, band leader Matt Jenson had the opportunity to study with and then befriend the late Latin piano icon Eddie Palmieri (1936 – 8/6/2025) and in honor of his passing, the group will present some songs from the “La Perfecta” era of Palmieri’s career, including songs like ‘Justicia,’ ‘Verdad Amarga,’ ‘Sujetate la Lengua’ with the vocal/percussion stylings of Manolo Mairena. The band will also be presenting Matt’s original compositions taken from his “Rebel Tumbao” and “Liquid Revolution” projects including the songs ‘Masters of Greed,’ ‘Must be Free,’ ‘Muse,’ ‘Again and Again’ and others.  Mix Up Mix Up usually appears as a quartet but for this show, the energy will be raised to the roof with the addition of two trombone players. Get ready to be nourished with a purely organic diet of Soul-Reggae and Soul-Latin music!
