Did you join JazzBoston before December 1, 2007? Would you like to become a JazzBoston member or give a membership as a gift to a music lover you know? If you renew or join by Dec. 31, you will be eligible to win a Bose Wave Music System ($500 value), donated by Bose Corporation. The acclaimed Wave Music System, with CD player and AM/FM radio, is considered by many the standard for quality audio and ease of use among one-piece, table top radios and bookshelf stereos. This is a one-time offer, so act now to be entered in the membership lottery. The winner will be announced Jan. 2.

JazzBoston members are eligible for two special offers in December. Berklee College of Music is providing a pair of seats in the VIP seating area for the New Year's Eve performance of pianist Hiromi's Sonicbloom (photo left, above) and their high octane jazz pop fusion at Berklee Performance Center. The 8 p.m. concert, a highlight of Boston's First Night celebration, will be heard live on NPR's "Toast of the Nation" program. Included with the Hiromi's Sonicbloom tickets are a pair of First Night buttons (value $18 each). The seats will go to to the first JazzBoston member who writes to newsletter@jazzboston.org.

The Jazz Club at the Multicultural Arts Center is offering JazzBoston members two free tickets to Colombian-born vocalist Marta Gomez's Dec. 12, 9:30 p.m. show. Write to newsletter@jazzboston.org now to win these tickets.

Radio Waves: Turton's WFNX-FM "Jazz Brunch" Turns 25

Jeff Turton, host of "Jazz Brunch" on WFNX-FM (101.7), this year celebrates 25 years programming one of the most eclectic jazz shows on radio. The show, which airs on Sundays from 6 a.m. to noon, offers a variety of jazz styles, plus a funky mix of world music sounds from Africa to Latin America. WGBH-FM (89.7) has several special programs planned for December, including host Steve Schwartz's "Jazz from Studio Four" show on the Gershwin brothers on Dec. 6 at 8 p.m., host Eric Jackson's interviews on "Eric in the Evening" with drummer Brooke Sofferman on Dec. 4 at 9 p.m., and pianists Laszlo Gardony and Armen Donelian on Dec. 14 at 9 p.m. On Friday, Dec. 12, at 9 p.m. Schwartz will host a live performance with pianist Steve Kuhn from WGBH's Fraser Performance Studio.

Listen for the Christmas Day "Whiteman Special" on WHRB-FM (95.3) Dec. 25 at noon, which will showcase Paul Whiteman's 1938 Carnegie Hall concert featuring Artie Shaw, Louis Armstrong, and others.

Pianist/composer Steve Kuhn (photo left) takes part in a conversation with Harvard Jazz Bands director Tom Everett on Friday, Dec. 12, at 4 p.m. at Harvard's New College Theater Rehearsal Studio, 10-12 Holyoke St., Cambridge. The event is free and open to the public. Kuhn performs with the Harvard Jazz Bands on Saturday, Dec. 13, at 8 p.m. at Harvard's Lowell Lecture Hall. Call (617)495-8676 for information.

The colleges offer a number of free concerts this month, including the Tufts Jazz Orchestra at Tufts Goddard Chapel, Dec. 6 at 8 p.m.; the Brandeis University Jazz Ensemble at Brandeis's Slosberg Recital Hall on Dec. 6 at 8 p.m.; the Berklee String Orchestra with guest soloist Eugene Friesen on Dec. 15 at 8:15 p.m. at Berklee Performance Center; and the Ken Schaphorst-directed New England Conservatory Youth Jazz Orchestra at NEC's Brown Hall on Dec. 18 at 8 p.m.
