JazzBoston Family Initiative — Jazz for All Ages
The underlying theme of the JazzBoston Family Initiative is that jazz is an intergenerational experience. Events will have both performance and educational components. They will be held in a variety of venues in different parts of the city, with emphasis on underserved communities, and all will be accessible by public transportation. Admission to these presentations will be nominal or free.
A team drawn from JazzBoston's Board of Directors and Advisory Council is working on this initiative. Music writer Bob Blumenthal, saxophonist Patricia Zarate, and Celebrity Series PR Director Jack Wright are among the members. As we proceed, we will draw neighborhood groups and community organizations into the planning process and seek partners to produce individual events. The first event in this series will take place this winter.
